ALABASTAR

Pinks are great for paler skin as the undertones are very soft but have enough colour not to drain the skin, says Lyndsey.  My top picks for fair ladies are the Lord & Berry Vogue Matte Lipstick in 60s pink (£15) and NARS Pure Matte in ‘Tonkin’ (£21).  Both have a modern matte finish, without drying the lips. With a colour this light, you can afford a statement eye. Try a feline flick and lashings of black mascara for a retro vibe.

OLIVE

For ladies with a year-round golden hue, I always reach for MAC Amplified Creme lipstick in ‘Morange’ (£15.50) as a bright, bold orange really works well against olive complexions.  Another favourite is the Lord & Berry Absolute Intensity Lipstick in ‘Flame Red’ (£15.00). Again, the warm undertones work perfectly to perk up a sallow complexion, especially for day time as its moisturising and the colour is not too intense. My top tip is to keep the rest of the face neutral, bar a bold brow. Ladies with darker complexions carry off a cara-esque brow beautifully.

DARK

The Lord & Berry Vogue lipstick in ‘Black Red’ (£15) is great for dark skin and puts a huge focus on lips. It’s matte texture is super modern and the colour is incredibly intense. Team it with natural eyes and cheeks; you don’t want to look too overdone.  A dark red works great for day and night, it says fun and ‘I’m the boss’.  Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in ‘Glastonberry’ a go (£23).
